A man in his 40s has been stabbed to death this morning in the North Strand area of Dublin.
He passed away in the Mater Hospital.
A second man in his mid 40s was injured in the incident and he is being treated at St. James Hospital .
The incident took place in the early hours of this morning at Clinch's Court when a row is understood to have broken out at a house at around 4am.
Gardai at Mountjoy Garda Station have started a murder investigation.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic investigation and gardai at Store Street have started a murder investigaiton.
A post mortem is set to be carried out today.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal stabbing of a man (mid 40s) that occurred at 4am this morning, Friday 19th July, 2019 at Clinchs Court, North Strand, Dublin 1.

"Gardaí were alerted to the incident and the man was seriously injured and removed to the Mater Hospital where he later passed away.
"A second man (mid 40s) was also injured and removed to St. James Hospital and is being treated for his injuries.
"The scene is currently preserved and the State Pathologist has been notified.
"Gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have been in the area between 3.00a.m. and 4.15a.m. or any passing taxis with dash cam footage to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01.6668600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardai are believed to be following a definite line of inquiry at the moment.
