Man in his 40s found in street with serious head injuries

A man in his 40s was found with serious injuries during the early hours of Sunday.

At around 3.10am on May 9, emergency services were called to Wesley Street in Southport, to reports of a man being found with a head injury.

He was rushed to hospital with serious facial injuries.

The incident is believed to have happened in the Bedford Road area. A man was detained and arrested and enquiries continue at this location.

27-year-old Alvis Zabitis of Hawesside Street, Southport has now been charged with GBH with intent.

He was kept in custody and a trial date has been set for June 7 at Liverpool Crown Court.
