Man in his 40s found dead after police called to house

A man was pronounced dead in Wigan after police were called to reports of concerns for someone's welfare.

Witnesses described seeing a heavy emergency service presence in Tyldesley at around 6pm on Sunday, January 10.

Both North West Ambulance Service and police rushed to a property in Elliott Street.

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, according to GMP.

A coroner's report is currently being prepared for an inquest.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called by colleagues from NWAS to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man on Elliott Street in Tyldesley just before 6pm on Sunday, January 10.

"Sadly, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the coroner."
