Meath crash: Man killed after car collides with back of parked truck in Carnaross

A man has been killed after crashing into the back of a parked truck in Meath.

Tragedy struck on the R147 in Carnaross, Kells, on Monday evening.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan.

It is expected that a post-mortem will be carried out in the next few days.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident.

The R147 road was closed (between Kells and Virginia) on Tuesday morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are particularly appealing to any road users who were travelling between Kells and Virginia between 9pm and 10pm on Monday and who may have camera (dash cam) footage, to make it available.
