It's the second tragedy on our roads today after a young man lost his life in a collision outside Dundrum in Tipperary this morning.

The tragic accident happened just before 5:30am on the R661 Dundrum to Thurles road, approximately one kilometre outside the village of Dundrum in Co Tipperary.

Three young men, all understood to be in their 20s were travelling in a 4X4 when it left the road.

A spokesman for An Garda Siochana said: "Two were removed by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"The third man was pronounced dead at the scene."

Gardai issued a further statement this afternoon appealing to all road users to exercise caution over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Given the number of tragic accidents in the last few days on our roads, An Garda Síochána are reminding all road users and motorists in particular to be extra careful for the remainder of this June Bank Holiday Weekend.

Assistant Commissioner David Sheahan - Roads Policing and Major Event Management said: "Be mindful of the changing weather conditions that impact on road surfaces, never ever drink and drive, reduce your speed and arrive alive to prevent any further tragedy on our roads.”

Members of the Garda Roads Policing Unit will continue to target intoxicated driving along with other killer behaviours such as speeding, mobile phone use and non-wearing of seatbelts across the roads network over the June Bank Holiday.
