Man in his 30s dies after road accident in Letterkenny, Donegal

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 30s died following a road traffic collision in Letterkenny early today (THURS).

The fatal crash, which involved only the victim’s car, took place at 12.30am this morning (THURS).

The man was travelling along the R265, from the direction of Porthall, Lifford, Co Donegal towards Rossgier.

Emergency services attended the incident and the man was initially treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.

He was then taken to Letterkenny University Hospital in a critical condition but later died from his injuries.

It is understood the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree.

The man was the sole occupant of the car.

The scene at the crash site remained preserved this morning for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
