Man in his 30s dead after 'medical episode' at city centre cafe

A man in his 30s has died after suffering a 'medical episode' at a city centre cafe, police have said.

Emergency services responded to the incident outside the venue on Great Ancoats Street at around 5.50pm last night.

A police cordon was put in place in the smoking area of the cafe at Islington Wharf.

Police confirmed this morning a man has died.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

One witness said: "I saw three normal police cars, a van, an ambulance and then a paramedic bike.

"It was quite a big response to whatever has happened. At first, it looked like a police crime scene because of how many vehicles were there.

"The smoking and seating area outside the front of the cafe was cordoned off by police."
