Man in his 30s charged in connection with murder of John Ustic in Skibbereen, West Cork

Gardaí investigating the murder of a man in his home in Cork two years ago have have arrested and charged a man in his 30s.

He was arrested on Tuesday morning, November 5, and is due to appear before Clonakilty District Court 10.30am.

The body of 51-year-old John Ustic, who was from England originally, was discovered at his home at 15, High St, Skibbereen, Co Cork on September 25, 2017.

A post-mortem examination was carried out and gardai said the results established that Mr Ustic died from assault injuries.

The investigation was later upgraded to murder.

The dead man had not been living long at the rented terraced house but he had been a resident in West Cork for many years and was known locally.

The 51-year-old is believed to have been discovered by his partner, who then alerted the gardai and emergency services.

It is understood the body had a number of visible injuries, including one to the head.

It is believed that gardai found no signs of a forced entry into the house.
