Man in his 20s pulled from Mercedes after crash closes Queens Drive

The fire service have pulled a young man from a car after a crash which shut Liverpool's Queens Drive.

Police, the fire and ambulance service were called to Queens Drive, near the Navigator pub, at about 3.40am today.

Officers said a grey Mercedes car struck a tree during the early hours, prompting road closures as emergency services worked at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital after he was pulled from the car by firefighters.

A spokesman for the force said it is not believed his injuries are life-threatening.

Road closures were put in place for much of the morning afterwards, but police have confirmed the vehicle has now been recovered and roads were reopened.

Arriva confirmed buses were diverted in the area and traffic built up during rush hour.

As the incident was dealt with, people living nearby reported hearing several police cars rushing to the scene.
