Man in full Highland dress on paddleboard surprises walker on Glasgow canal

It's a well known fact that Glasgow's streets are full of characters, but we can now add the city's waterways to the list as well.

That's after a walker was surprised by a man in full Highland dress on a paddleboard making his way along the Forth and Clyde Canal yesterday afternoon.

Local Lisa McCormick spotted the chap near to Lock 21 in the Maryhill area heading in the direction of the Free Wheel North bike repair shop and cafe.

She shared photos of the surprise encounter on Twitter, alongside the caption:"Typical day on Maryhill canal".

Lisa told Glasgow Live: "What a surprise that was. He said 'Hi' then went by and stopped at The White House Cafe. He just seemed like he was out a stroll! He had his flask with him and he stopped and had a sip. And he had a young guy behind him with a wet suit on."

The bearded fellow looked like he was dressed for a wedding or the catwalk even in his sunglasses and kilt, sporran, kilt hose (socks) and ghillie shirt - never mind going for a jaunt down the canal.

It's not the first time passersby have been treated to a random sight on the canal, with another walker sharing a video of a pair of pooches cruising down the water on a paddleboard back in May.

Anyone know who the chap is?
