ACT Policing is investigating after a man was killed and three others injured in a violent incident in Canberra on Saturday morning.

Criminal Investigations Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said police were called to a property on Braine Street in Page about 9:00am Saturday, where they encountered a man who had "significant injuries".

They then encountered another injured man, who "rushed at" the officers, at which point they tasered him and placed him under arrest.

The officers then found a female inside the property with serious injuries, and another male who was dead.

Three people, including the man in custody, were taken to the Canberra Hospital where they were being treated for life-threatening injuries, Detective Superintendent Moller said.

"We're still working through all the issues in relation to the incident.

"We're still piecing together the circumstances."

He did not say what weapon was used or what events led up to the incident.

"The investigation is in its infancy and we have not yet had a chance to go into the intricacies of it," he said.

He said they did not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.

No police officers were injured.

Joanna Vassalakis, who lives on Blaine Street, said she heard "loud screaming" about 8:30am.

"And I went outside and I saw a man with blood.

"And my partner was saying, 'can you please go back inside and dial triple zero', so I did."

Police are urging anyone with information to contact contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit the Crime Stoppers website.
