Drug and drink driving charges laid after teenager fatally struck riding scooter

Emergency services were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian riding a scooter.  (ABC News: Tristan Hooft)

Drug and drink driving charges have been laid against a man arrested over a fatal collision with a 15-year-old boy riding a scooter in Darwin's northern suburbs.

NT Police said emergency services had responded to a collision between a car and a pedestrian riding a scooter across Matthews Road in the suburb of Wulagi at 7:00pm on Saturday night.

Witnesses at the scene started CPR on the boy but he died at the scene.

NT Police said the 32-year-old male driver of the car presented at the Casuarina Police Station a short time later.

He has been charged with hit and run, medium-range drink driving, driving with a prohibited drug in his blood and not stopping after a crash.

Police said the man was bailed to face court in early September.
