Man in critical condition with serious head injuries following late night Tallaght assault

A man in his 30s has been hospitalised with serious head injuries following a late night assault in Tallaght.

The 34-year-old was rushed to Tallaght Hospital last night after the incident at the Killinarden estate at around 11pm.

He was discovered by a passer-by who raised the alarm and is understood to be in critical condition.

The scene remains closed this morning and gardai are now appealing for witnesses.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault incident in Tallaght.

"Gardaí were called to an incident at Killinarden Estate shortly after 11pm where a 34-year-old man was discovered with serious head injuries. The man was found by a passer-by who raised the alarm.

"The injured man was taken by Gardaí to Tallaght Hospital where his condition is currently understood to be critical.

What to do in an emergency situation

"The scene is currently preserved for examination and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. An incident room has been established at Tallaght Station.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station 01-6666000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

"Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow."
