Cops have arrested and charged a man over an alleged attempted murder in Fife.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to a property on Methil Brae, Leven, at around 5.15pm on Monday, July 13.

They found a 42-year-old man lying outside a home with stab wounds to his leg.

As a result of the incident the victim was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he is in a critical but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Chris Mill, of Levenmouth CID, said: "Officers reacted quickly to the situation and following an investigation led by detectives alongside local uniformed officers and engagement from the community, we were able to arrest and charge a man in connection with this incident."

The 44-year-old is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court tomorrow.
