A man is in critical condition in hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Cork last night, Saturday, July 1.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating a serious road traffic collision involving two cars that occurred shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday evening on McCurtain Street in Fermoy, Co Cork.

A passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash, a man aged in his 20s, was rushed to Cork University Hospital and remains in critical condition at the time of writing.

The driver of the other car, a female aged in her 50s, was also transported to CUH, where she is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The stretch of road where the crash took place on McCurtain Street remains closed this Sunday morning as forensic collision investigators conduct an examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place for motorists.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses, particularly those who might have dash-cam footage of the area at the time of the accident.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward," a Garda spokesperson told The Irish Mirror.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the McCurtain Street area between 8:30pm and 9pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Fermoy Garda station on 025 82100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
