Man in critical condition after crash that left four - including two children - in hospital

A man is in a critical condition following a crash involving two children and a pensioner.

Police say a 45 year-old man involved in the collision in Wythenshawe yesterday (July 24) remains critical after being rushed to hospital.

Two children - aged six and nine - were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 77-year-old woman - who was driving a Fiat 500 - suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The driver of a Ford B-Max, a 33-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a broken wrist.

Officers were called to Simonsway, in Wythenshawe, to reports of a collision between two cars at around 12:02pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended and enquiries have established that a black Ford B-Max and a white Fiat 500 were in collision.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to get in touch.

Constable Philip Drummond, of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a serious collision which has resulted in multiple casualties.

“We wish all involved a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with the man who remains in a critical condition in hospital.

“If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, saw the vehicles prior to the incident or have any dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
