Man in critical condition after being rescued from water at Strathclyde Park

A man is in a critical condition after being rescued from the water at Strathclyde Park on Monday.

It’s believed he got into a struggle after sunbathing in the Goose Beach area before entering the water.

Locals, seeing him in difficulty, tried helping the man but emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.25pm on Monday, June 1.

Police have not been able to identify the man and are appealing for information to see if members of the public know who he is. He remains in Wishaw General Hospital in a critical condition.

He is described as being in his late 40s or early 50s, 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build with medium length brown hair which is greying.

He has a tattoo of a small cross on left arm with three dots above it.

At the time, he was wearing a grey zipper, a navy top, navy swim shorts and dark trainers and was in possession of a Tesco shopping bag.

Police Scotland has not received any reports of a missing person matching the man’s description and he remains unidentified.

Anyone with information which could help identify the man is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2284 of Monday, 1 June, 2020.
