Man in 'critical condition' after assault in city centre

A man is in critical condition after an assault in the city centre last night.

Castle Street in the City centre remained cordoned off by Police this morning.

Police told the ECHO that they were called to the scene at around 9.28pm on Saturday, October 24.

Police said a 30-year-old man was taken to Aintree Hospital with head injuries following an assault.

He remains in critical condition.

What appears to be bloody rags or clothes can be seen at the scene of the police cordon on Castle Street.

Merseyside Police said that there is an ongoing investigation.
