A man is fighting for his life in hospital after an alleged assault on a rural property in Central Victoria today.
Authorities say a 59-year-old man has been arrested in Wheatsheaf, east of Daylesford, following an "altercation" this morning.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on Wallaby Road before 10:30am.
A man in his 60s has been flown to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with "serious upper body injuries".
Country Fire Authority said crews extinguished a fire that impacted a nearby forested area at the same time the incident occurred.
The Arson and Explosives Squad and the Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
