A man has appeared in court in connection with the death of Paisley woman Kymberli Sweeney.

Shaun Wilson was charged with assaulting Kymberli to her severe injury when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court.

He faces a second charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

The 27-year-old man, from Ayr, made no plea during the hearing.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Police Scotland confirmed that the body of Kymberli, 27,  was discovered in a Gallowhill flat on Saturday night.

Officers received a report of a woman being unconscious within a flat in Abbot Street at 6.20pm.

Emergency services were called but Kymberli was pronounced dead at the scene.
