Man in court charged with wilful fireraising in Fife and possessing air rifle without certificate

A man has appeared in court charged with starting a fire, behaving in a threatening or abusive way and possessing an air rifle without a certificate in Fife.

William Davidson is said to have committed the offences in Kinglassie, near Glenrothes, on Saturday morning.

The 45-year-old, of Fife, was arrested by police on Saturday.

He was held in police custody for two nights before appearing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.

He made no plea to the three charges against him during the private hearing, and was remanded in custody.

As well as wilful fireraising, he is charged with breaking Section 38(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010, and Section 2(1) of the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015.

No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to make a second court appearance with the case next week.
