Man in court charged with attempted murder after boy, nine, stabbed in head

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder, facing accusations that he followed a nine-year-old boy down the street and allegedly stabbed him repeatedly.

Faisal Khan, 24, of Almond Road, Dogsthorpe, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court today, Monday.

Khan was not asked to enter pleas to the charges of attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

The case was adjourned until July 2 awaiting the preparation of psychiatric reports.

A trial date has been set, provisionally, for December 15. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said the boy was walking with his older brother when he was attacked in Peveril Road. The boy suffered multiple injuries to his face and head.

Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service.

The boy was initially taken to Peterborough City Hospital with life-changing injuries and transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in a stable condition.
