Man in court accused of 'communicating indecently' with child on Scots street

A man has appeared in court after an incident in which police were called and residents blocked a street over the Easter weekend.

George Collins faced a brief private hearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court.

Collins, 64, faced two charges, on petition - communicating indecently with a child aged 13 to 16, contrary to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 Section 34 (1) and committing a breach of the peace.

Represented by public defence solicitor Nuala Devlin, Collins, of Dunfermline, Fife made no plea.

Sheriff Derek Livingston released him on bail, and he will appear in court again on a future date to be arranged.

Police Scotland praised locals for their help during the incident, which took place about 1.15pm on Saturday April, 3, in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire.

The force said it wanted to "thank the local community for their assistance" as an inquiry was begun.
