Man in a wheelchair struck by hit and run driver on pedestrian crossing

A man in a wheelchair suffered a serious leg injury after he was hit by a car that did not stop on a

Police said the driver failed to stop after the incident on Hall Lane in Kirkby.

The pedestrian, in his 50s, suffered a serious leg injury and was later taken to hospital for treatment.  Police said the car which did not stop was red.

The force is now appealing for dashcam footage.

The incident happened at around 2.50pm on November 20.

A police spokesman said ECHO : "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision on Hall Lane in Kirkby on Wednesday, 20 November.

"A man in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing near to the roundabout with the junction of Kirkby Row at around 2.50pm.

"The pedestrian, in his 50s, suffered a serious leg injury and was later taken to hospital for treatment. The vehicle which failed to stop is believed to be red."
