Man in 80s grabbed and robbed in Chinatown - police want to speak to this man

Police investigating after an elderly gent was grabbed and robbed in Chinatown want to speak to this man.

The 'cowardly' robbery happened as the victim, aged in his 80s, was walking the streets of Manchester city centre around 1.20pm on February 6.

The thief 'took hold of' the victim then removed his wallet and cash, police said.

The victim was not seriously injured during the incident but has been left shaken.

The offender fled on foot with a small amount of cash.

Anyone who recognises the man in the images is asked to contact police.

Police Constable Stuart Hammersley of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: "This is a particularly cowardly incident where a vulnerable member of our community was targeted on a city centre street in broad daylight.

"I would encourage anyone who recognises the person pictured, or thinks they can assist with our enquiries, to please get in touch."

Anyone who has any information about the robbery should call police on 0161 856 3221 quoting incident number 0710 of 20/02/19.

Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
