An elderly man has been taken to hospital with burns following a fire.
Emergency services were scrambled to Ashfield Avenue, in Atherton, just before 10am.
An air ambulance landed at nearby St George's School and two rapid response vehicles were also dispatched.
Police and firefighters are also at the scene.
A man described as being in his early 70s has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
The air ambulance was not needed and set off again shortly after landing.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We have taken a man in his early 70s to hospital following a fire.
"He's suffering burns to his arms."
Witnesses living locally also reported seeing smoke on nearby Gloucester Street.
Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
