Man in 50s hits girl, 15, with car then drives off

A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car that failed to stop at the scene of an accident.

Police said a small silver car collided with a girl on Mount Pleasant Road in Wallasey just before 8pm on Wednesday evening.

The driver, aged 50, stopped and spoke briefly to the girl before driving off in the direction of Seaview Road.

The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries to her legs and arms, and grazing to her chin. She has since been discharged.

A police spokesperson said : "We are appealing for information after a report a 15-year-old girl was struck by a car in Wallasey on Wednesday (2 September).

"It was reported a small silver car turning onto Mount Pleasant Road from Rake Lane just before 8pm was in collision with the girl.

"The driver, a man aged about 50, stopped briefly and exchanged words with the girl before driving away in the direction of Seaview Road."
