Man in 40s falls three stories from Wharfside Shopping Centre centre in Cornwall

A man was rushed to hospital after falling from a three-storey shopping centre.

The incident happened just after 7pm at the Wharfside Shopping Centre, in Penzance, Cornwall.

A Cornwall Air Ambulance helicopter landed in a nearby car park, with paramedics treating the man at the scene.

The area was cordoned off by police as a large crowd gathered, Cornwall Live reports.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service could not confirm the nature of the nature of the incident but confirmed that the service was called just after 7pm.

The spokesman said the casualty was taken by land ambulance to Royal Cornwall Hospital and then transferred by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that two units attended after a man in his forties fell from the Wharfside.

Enquiries were ongoing to determine why he fell and officers were still at the scene after 10pm.

The police were awaiting an update from the hospital on the man's condition.
