Man in 30s taken to hospital following concern for welfare report

A man has been taken to hospital following a report of a concern for welfare in Leigh.

Police and the ambulance service were called to Empress Drive in the Higher Fold area, just after 7pm on Monday night.

Emergency services were in attendance for a number of hours according to people living in the area.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said: "I can confirm we were called to this location last night and took a patient to hospital."

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that the patient was a man in his 30s.

A GMP spokesman added: "Shortly after 7pm last night (Monday 6 July 2020) police were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a man on Empress Drive in Leigh.

"A man in his 30’s was taken to hospital."
