Man in 30s dies after being hit by train at Trafford Park station

A man has died after being hit by a train at Trafford Park railway station tonight.

There was a large emergency services response to the incident at around 8pm.

Sadly, the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said the death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

Northern Rail and Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted to say the incident is affecting rail services in the area.

"Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Deansgate and Chassen Road the line is blocked," Northern tweeted.

"Services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day."

Northern later added: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Trafford Park both lines are blocked.

"The first affected service is the 18.55 from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road.

"There is currently no estimate for the resumption of train running."

A BTP spokesperson said:"BTP officers were called to Trafford Park railway station on Monday 9 November after a report that a man had been struck by a train.

"Officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at approximately 8pm.

"Medics also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner."
