Man in 20s taken to hospital after police called to fight

A young man was taken to hospital after a fight broke out in Whitefield.

Police were called to Thatch Leach Lane just after 8pm on Tuesday (June 1) to reports of a fight.

During the altercation, a man in his 20s was assaulted. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses described seeing a large police presence outside several shops on the street.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, a spokesman for GMP said.

In a statement, the force said: “Officers were called around 8.10pm on Tuesday 1 June 2021 to a report of a group of teenagers fighting on Thatch Leach Lane, Whitefield.

“During the disturbance a man in his 20s was assaulted. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“No arrests have been made.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
