Man in 20s hospitalised after two car crash on A420

A man was hospitalised after a two car crash on the A420 which resulted in a prolonged road closure yesterday (August 5).

The collision occurred at around 4.35pm and involved a white Citroen Berlingo and a silver Peugeot 106.

The collision happened on the A420 Homeapple Hill, between Webbs Heath (Bridgeyate) and Church Road (Wick).

The driver of the Peugeot, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries that are not believed to be life-changing.

Avon and Somerset Police attended the scene of the incident after they were called by a witness who reported the crash.

The A-road was subsequently blocked and traffic monitor Inrix reported queuing cars and delays in the area.

Fire screws were also in attendance at the scene and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

The road remained closed to allow Avon and Somerset Police to examine the scene and also to recover the vehicles. The A420 was reopened by 10pm.

A spokesperson for the force said: “If you were travelling on the A420 at around the time and saw the vehicles in the moments before the collision, witnessed the incident or have any dashcam footage which could help, please call 101 quoting reference 5221179073.”
