Man hurt in street brawl in Newton Heath

Police have launched an investigation after a man was attacked in Newton Heath.

Officers were called to reports of an assault near a car park on Gaskell Street, just before 10.30am, on Monday (August 19).

It is understood the victim, a man in his 40s, was involved in a fight.

He was left with cuts to his arm.

Police said the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

It is not yet known whether a weapon was used in the attack.

Witnesses said a large police cordon was put up on the street as forensic offers started combing the scene.

No arrests have been made.
