Man hurt in own home following Lockerbie robbery

Violent robbers made off with a £4,000 haul after attacking a man in his own home.

The 28-year-old victim was left with minor injuries and badly shaken after the assault in Sydney Gardens, Lockerbie, on Saturday.

It happened between 1.30pm and 2.30pm and cops believe two raiders, who spoke with west of Scotland accents, were involved.

They made off with jewellery and cash said to be worth more than £4,000.

Yesterday door-to-door inquiries were continuing in the area.

Police put out descriptions of the two men they are seeking.

One is described as being around five feet nine inches tall and between 22 and 30 years of age with blondish coloured hair.

He was wearing a distinctive high visibility yellow jacket at the time, as well as a dark boiler suit, hard hat and ear muffs and was carrying a tool bag.

The second man is also described as between 22 and 30 years old, slim with dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue Adidas tracksuit.

Detective Inspector Dean Little, who is leading the investigation, called for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

He said: “This type of crime is very rare indeed for our area and a team of detectives are now working on the case with a view of catching those responsible. We are asking anyone who lives in Sydney Gardens, or the surrounding area, to get in touch with us if they saw either of the two men described.

“Likewise we would be keen to hear about any strange vehicles which might have been seen entering or leaving, or even parked up, in the area of Sydney Gardens or surrounding streets on Saturday.

“We are also reviewing CCTV footage from cameras in the area and any dash cam footage which anyone has while driving in the area would be welcomed.

“Callers can contact Police Scotland on the 101 number.”
