Almost all of us will have been rejected from a job at least once, but in most cases, rejection comes in the form of a carefully worded email from the hiring manager - or sometimes no contact at all.
But one man on TikTok discovered he'd been denied an interview for a job at a coffee shop in a particularly devastating way after he was accidentally included in an HR email chain discussing his application, the Daily Star reports.
Alexander Richard had applied for the job more than once and had almost gotten to the interview stage back in December last year, but never heard back from the company after he asked when his interview would be.
When he then applied again a few weeks ago, he received an email from the shop and thought it would be good news - until he realised the messages were actually between the managers who were discussing why they wouldn't be considering him for the position.

In a video that showed the email he'd received, Alexander - who posts under the username @noveltygay - explained: "Yeah breakups hurt and stuff, but have you ever been CC'd on HR emails talking about why they don't want to hire you?"
The 19-year-old student also attached a screenshot of the email, in which one person wrote: "I tried to interview this guy before and he never showed [for] it."
And another then replied to the email, saying: "Well that's interesting. OK, so let's reject him."
However, Alexander later returned to TikTok to post a follow-up video in which he insisted he was never given a time or date for his interview the last time he applied for the job.

He showed text messages that stated he was contacted to ask if he would be "interested in an interview", and after he said yes, he was told he would be sent some possible times to choose from.
But after replying "alright, awesome", he never heard back from the employer and was never given the opportunity to attend an interview.
He explained: "The message was delivered and that's the last time I heard from them. They had supposedly sent me an interview time but I never got it. It was not my fault and it was a trigger for me.
"I would never do a no show to an interview."
Commenters on the TikTok video were also keen to hear whether Alexander had replied to the emails, which he revealed he did - and the company had since decided to ignore him.
He said: "I did send them a response, the first one I was driving when I got the email and I just read it quickly and all I said was 'Ouch'.
"The second email I clarified to them that I applied and interviewed in April and I tried to interview in December but didn't get anything about it."
