Man hurls stools at chicken shop owner after 'he failed to pay for his food'

This is the shocking moment a man hurled stools at chicken shop staff in a late-night attack.

The outburst was caught on CCTV at Chicken Bazooka in Liverpool City Centre at around 11.20pm on Saturday.

It started when the man - who claimed he was a bouncer - reportedly didn't pay for his food and was asked to leave, Liverpool Echo reports.

He can be seen pushing the till off the counter as another customer tries to calm him down.

Mustafa Alliabi said his dad Nizar, 63, who owns the takeaway, was forced to pick up a paddle, which is used to take pizzas in and out of the oven, to defend himself.

Mustafa, 32, told the Liverpool Echo: "It was Saturday night, it was quite busy and he was waiting for his food.

"Usually, the procedure is you order your food, you pay for it, and then the food gets prepared.

"My dad asked him to pay and he didn't pay. He was talking to someone and then he said 'where's my food? And my dad said 'you've still not paid for your food'."

Mustafa said then the man started "mouthing off" and swearing before he was asked to leave.

Mustafa said: "My dad asked him to leave and that's when he responded 'I'm a bouncer you don't ask me to leave' - and that's when it escalated."

The unbelievable footage shows the man picking up a red metal bar stool and hurling it in Nizar's direction, before going back and picking up a second stool.

The man threw a total of three stools across the restaurant as two customers tried to intervene.

Merseyside Police said the man then fled the shop.

He is described as a black male, around 6ft tall, who was wearing all black clothing.

Mustafa said his dad was left with bruising down his left arm and a cut to his leg as a result of what happened.

He added: "The fact he's thrown three stools at people in itself shows he doesn't care what happens if that hits people.

"If that had hit someone in the head or in the face it's game over.

"He tried to get into the kitchen but the door was locked. What worries me the most is if he got into the kitchen I don't know what he would have done."

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “We simply will not tolerate such violence towards people simply carrying out their business in our communities and we are working to find the man responsible and bring him to justice.

“If you were in the Mount Pleasant area on Saturday night and witnessed the incident, or saw the man described making off from the area, then please let us know.

“Similarly if you captured any mobile phone or dashcam footage when driving on Mount Pleasant then please contact us. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC, on Twitter, Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook or ring 101 quoting reference 21000668786.
