Cumnock’s Christmas lights king Craig Montgomery has spoken of his pride after he held this year’s official switch-on in front of 200 people.
Craig’s parents’ home in Holmburn Road, has once again been transformed into a winter wonderland complete with Polar Bears, Penguins and much more.
So it’s safe to say that it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – if you stay in and around Cumnock.
Craig, 22, an office manager at G&C Double Glazing Repair, has spent the last few months planning his Christmas lights display, called ‘Wonderland.’
And this year’s effort is his biggest and best yet.
Following three weekends of installation, it all came to a colourful and mesmerising climax at the weekend, when the grand switch-on took place at his home in the Holmburn Road cul-de-sac.
Craig’s amazing display includes thousands of LED lights, silhouettes and acrylic figures including polar bears, penguins, full-size reindeers and even pandas.
Speaking after the big switch-on Craig, said: “I turned them on on Saturday night, they’re my biggest and best yet!
“It’s always better than the year before.

“There’s thousands of LED lights, acrylic animals including polar bears, penguins, reindeer and a couple of pandas too.
“On the house itself it’s all tinsel silhouettes.
“It took me three full weekends to assemble, but there’s been months of planning gone into it beforehand.

“I’m an active member of UK Christmas Lights Community page and it’s given me a lot of inspiration.
“You see things on there you like and you just replicate them.”
Craig admits that his passion for his Christmas display comes at a price, though.

He revealed: “It’s a couple of thousand pounds a year investment, but it’s worth it.
“You have to replace about 10 per cent each year, as it’ll eventually fail.”
Craig’s also reached a milestone as this year’s display is his 10th successive one in the Ayrshire street.
He continued: “On Saturday, at the switch-on, there were 200 people in the street and they saw me dressed as the Grinch.
“It’s all worth it when you see the wee ones’ faces when they are on, it’s amazing.”
Craig, who lives with mum and dad Paul and Maria and little sister Joanne, wants the entire Ayrshire community to visit and enjoy the Christmas spirit.
The display will be on every night from 5pm to 10pm right through until January.
