Man hospitalised in Edinburgh city centre incident as cops tape off scene

A man has been hospitalised after an Edinburgh city centre incident.

Emergency services swarmed Hunter Square around 10pm last night and rushed a 35-year-old to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Several police vans and an ambulance were spotted at the scene.

The cordon stretched across the steps of the Tron Kirk which backs on to the square.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10pm on Friday, 26 February, officers in Edinburgh responded to reports of a concern for person in Hunter Square.

“Emergency services attended and a 35-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he remains in a stable condition.”
