Man hospitalised as he falls ill following discovery of lizard tail in his curry

A man has fallen ill and been hospitalised after finding a lizard 's tail in his curry while eating at a restaurant.

The incident took place at an unnamed venue in the Kanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India on Friday.

According to local reports, the customer, identified as Jang Bahadur Singh, stopped by the eatery while travelling with a friend, Abhishek Dwivedi.

He ordered a curry made of pulses and rice and was shocked to see the surprise which allegedly came with it.

Singh films the table which he was eating on, before zooming into a bowl – which appears to have a small tail in it, believed to be from a lizard.

He then films the restaurant, the staff and other customers, who can all be seen chatting and looking uncomfortable.

Singh brought the incident to the notice of the owner, who reportedly used foul language in response.

He reportedly began to feel sick and vomited soon after eating the meal, and was later admitted to hospital.

Singh has filed a complaint against the owner and the case has been registered with the police.

Earlier this year the Mirror reported on a woman who claimed to be left sickened after biting into a burger and finding a lizard inside.

The woman, who said she discovered the reptile inside her Big Tasty burger at a restaurant near Paris, said it was "squashed" and had its guts "hanging out".

Staff at the fast food chain reportedly offered the woman, who was in her 30s and wished to remain anonymous, a mere 10 per cent discount after she complained.

She said the employees didn't even appear shocked when she told them about the revolting find.

The woman, said to French newspaper Le Parisien, said: "I felt there was something strange. I opened [the burger] up and discovered a squashed lizard with its guts hanging out."

She continued: "I got the impression they weren’t surprised, The cook was there and at no point did he come and see us. The supervisor wasn’t there."
