Man hospitalised and woman injured after public order incident in Fethard, Co Tipperary

A man has been rushed to hospital after a public order incident in Fethard, Co Tipperary this evening.

The young man and a woman, both aged in their 20s, received non-life threatening injuries in the Tipperary town.

Another man, also aged in their 20s, was arrested in connection with the public order incident.

A number of units of the gardai raced to the scene along with an ambulance - an investigation has been launched.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances of a public order incident, which occurred in Fethard, Co. Tipperary this evening, Sunday 3rd May 2020.

"A man and a woman, both aged in their 20s, were injured during incident. The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"A man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested and taken to Clonmel Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

"Investigation ongoing."
