Man hospitalised after horror collision between truck and van as gardai close road

Gardai are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Co Donegal.

The crash between a van and a truck happened on the N13 just before 12pm today.

It is understood the incident occurred in the Tircallan area on the Letterkenny to Stranorlar Road.

A man in his 30s was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The man's condition is not known as yet and it is not clear whether anyone else was injured.

The road remains closed as gardai continue their examination of the scene.

It comes as tributes were paid today to a man in his 40s who died in a motorcycle crash in Co Donegal on Sunday.

Alan Devenney was a father of three children: Leona, Jordan and Craig.

The incident occurred at approximately 4.55pm on the N14 between the Dry Arch roundabout and the Port Road roundabout on Sunday.

Gardai from Letterkenny attended the scene.

They said his motorcycle collided with a jeep and a tractor, leaving him in a critical condition at the scene.

He was removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Letterkenny where he later passed away.

Fianna Fail Councillor Paul Canning told Donegal Daily that Alan "was liked by everyone. He was very hard working and very charitable in supporting local causes. He ran a very successful business and had plans to expand."

Others who paid tribute described him as "a real gentle giant with a heart of gold".

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
