A man has been hospitalised after being knocked off his bike in Kilmarnock town centre.

Part of the one-way system was closed down by police after the 61-year-old was involved in a collision with a car yesterday evening.

Police have confirmed today that the man remains in Crosshouse Hospital where he's being treated for his injuries. Although the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

The incident took place at around 4pm on Sturrock Street with cops now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Nigel Thomson from road policing said: "We are keen to speak to any witnesses of the incident or anyone who has dash cam footage to get in touch via 101 quoting reference number 2558 of Sept 11, 21."
