A man ended up in hospital after a botched robbery in Holborn where crooks sprayed him in the face and pretended to be a police officer.

The victim, in his 30s, was walking along Bloomsbury Square when a stranger grabbed him from behind and sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance.

As he lay on the floor, another man approached him and pretended to be a police officer before both attackers tried to steal his belongings.

Police were called to the scene at 11.15am on April 13. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was later discharged.

Detectives have released images of the two men they would like to speak to in relation to the crime.

One suspect is a white man with short, black hair wearing a dark hoodie, brown trousers and white trainers.

The other is also a white man with short black hair and of stocky build, wearing a dark blue jacket, blue tracksuit trousers, jeans and black trainers.
