Man hospitalised after alleged hit and run in Clonmel, Co Tipperary

A man was hospitalised in Tipperary on Sunday morning after an alleged hit and run incident.

The man, aged in his 30s, was walking along a footpath in Clonmel when he was allegedly hit by a car which then fled the scene.

The man attended Clonmel Garda Station with his injuries before being transported to South Tipperary General Hospital.

His injuries are thought to be non-life threatening.

Gardai are investigating the incident and have seized a vehicle in connection with it but no arrests have been made.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a report of an alleged hit and run incident involving a car and a man that is reported to have occurred on the Western Road, Clonmel on 02/08/2020 between 5:30am – 5:30am.

"A man, aged in his 30s, attended Clonmel Garda Station with minor injuries and stated a car had stuck him and failed to remain at the scene. The man was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"A technical examination of the scene has been carried out. A vehicle has been seized for a technical examination in relation to this investigation. No arrests have been made. Investigations are continuing."
