Gardaí from Castlebar. Mayo attended the scene of a vicious assault that occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 20.,
During the incident, a man in his late 40s was assaulted at Knockcrockery, Castlebar.
Following the attack, the man was removed to Castlebar Hospital for treatment for his injuries.
The Western People have reported that the assault took place under the bridge along the Lough Lannagh walkway.
Investigations are ongoing.
In a statement that was released, Gardai said: "Gardaí from Castlebar attended the scene of an incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning 20th August, 2021 One man (late 40s) was assaulted at Knockcrockery, Castlebar and removed to Castlebar Hospital. Investigations are ongoing."
