A man struck a woman in the face before stealing her handbag in a terrifying late-night robbery in Co Limerick.
The incident happened just before midnight on August 27 in Delmege Park in Moyross.
A man approached the woman from behind before launching the attack.
Officers said the woman did not need medical attention after the incident.
Local gardai carried out a search of the area but nobody was arrested.
However after an investigation officers from Mayorstone Park searched a house in Co Clare on Sunday evening.
A man in his 20s was arrested and brought to Henry Street Garda Station where he is currently being held.
A garda spokesman said: "Following an investigation by Detectives from the Crime Office in Mayorstone Park, a search warrant was executed at a house in Co. Clare on the evening of September 6.
"A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested and brought to Henry Street Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
