Man hit by van rushed to hospital with head injury

A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a van.

Police were called around 7.40am today to Preston New Road in Southport after reports of a crash. When officers arrived at the scene they found a van was involved in a crash with a man in his 40s.

The man was rushed to hospital with a head injury and the driver stopped at the scene. The road was closed for a few hours but has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we were called out to a report of a road traffic collision involving a van and a pedestrian in Southport earlier this morning, Tuesday, November 29.

"At around 7.40am we received a report that a van was involved in a collision with a man in his 40s on Preston New Road. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with a head injury and the driver stopped at the scene."
