A man who was hit by a van as he crossed the road is in serious condition in hospital.
Police issued an update about the pedestrian's condition after he was knocked down on Sheil Road, in Kensington, on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the area, along with the air ambulance, shortly before 1pm when the collision happened.
Road closures were put in place around the scene as the man was tended to by paramedics.
Police could then be seen launching their investigation inside the cordon.
After the victim was taken to hospital Merseyside Police confirmed that the man in his 40s had been hit by a white Peugeot van close to the Sheil Park Pub at 12.46pm.
On Monday evening officers then confirmed that he was in a serious condition but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
At the time of the crash, a spokesperson for the force said: "There are road closures in place on Sheil Road and we advise motorists to avoid the area."
Public transport in the area was also disrupted with Arriva confirmed in a Tweet that all Arriva 26 and 27 bus services were unable to use the road.
