Man hit by train between Long Eaton and Nottingham in hospital with 'serious injuries'

A man who was hit by a train yesterday is receiving treatment for serious injuries in hospital, police have confirmed.

Yesterday, East Midlands Railway said that "regrettably" someone had been hit by a train between Long Eaton and Nottingham.

The line reopened just after 10.30pm after paramedics had taken the man to hospital.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Long Eaton at 9.39am yesterday (Sunday, November 15) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and a man was rushed to hospital where he is receiving treatment for a number of serious injuries.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

A spokesperson for EMR said: "We know times are hard at the moment. Remember, it is okay to not be okay.

"Whether you have been affected by this disruption today, or you just need someone to talk to, Samaritans can help.

"Please speak to someone if you're struggling."
