A man was hit by a school bus Monday in southwest suburban Orland Park.

The bus was northbound at 8:37 a.m. when it hit the 21-year-old man, who “may have wandered into the roadway,” in the 16300 block of Wolf Road, according to a statement from Orland Park police.

The man was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the bus and its only passenger were not injured, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Wolf Road was closed between 159th and 167th streets while officers investigated the scene, according to police. The road was reopened shortly before noon.
